Cala Les Bassetes is a small cove beside Les Bassetes marina, at the northern end of Calpe’s coastline close to the boundary with Benissa.

The cove measures approximately 70 metres long but only five metres wide. Its shoreline consists of pebbles and a rocky platform rather than sand, with generally calm water and an unusual view towards the Peñón de Ifach.

Cala Les Bassetes is best suited to visitors interested in swimming, diving, fishing or the marina setting. It is not a conventional resort beach with extensive space and facilities.

What is Cala Les Bassetes like?

Cala Les Bassetes is a narrow, rocky bathing area rather than a broad beach.

The combination of pebbles, exposed rock and marina infrastructure gives it a very different atmosphere from La Fossa Beach or Arenal-Bol.

Space on the shoreline is limited, particularly when several visitors arrive at the same time. It is therefore better suited to a swim or waterside stop than to spreading out substantial beach equipment for an entire day.

Swimming

The council describes the water as generally calm. Conditions can still change, particularly with wind, boat activity or poor weather.

Pebbles and underwater rocks can make entering and leaving the water uncomfortable. Water shoes provide additional grip and protection, although visitors should still move slowly around wet surfaces.

There is no shore-based lifeguard listed, so swimmers must assess the conditions and their own ability carefully.

Diving

Cala Les Bassetes is officially identified as suitable for diving.

Its rocky surroundings and marina location may appeal to experienced divers, but anyone planning a dive should:

  • Use an authorised and suitably insured operator
  • Check weather and sea conditions
  • Follow marina and navigation instructions
  • Use appropriate safety equipment
  • Avoid diving alone
  • Remain alert to boats entering or leaving the marina
  • Avoid damaging marine habitats

The official beach listing does not include equipment rental or diving tuition as beach facilities. These services may be offered by separate marina businesses, but availability should be checked directly.

Fishing

Fishing is also identified as a suitable activity by Calpe’s official tourism information.

Anglers must comply with current licensing requirements, permitted methods and any restrictions applying around the marina. Extra care is essential when swimmers or divers are nearby.

Hooks, lines and other tackle must never be left on the shoreline.

Beach facilities

Calpe Town Council lists:

  • Boat surveillance
  • Waste bins
  • Beach beaconing

Visitors should arrive prepared and avoid relying on marina facilities being publicly accessible or open.

Safety around the marina

Swimming beside a marina requires additional awareness.

Visitors should:

  • Remain within appropriate bathing areas
  • Observe all signs and buoyed boundaries
  • Stay clear of marina entrances
  • Watch for moving boats
  • Avoid swimming in poor visibility
  • Supervise children closely
  • Never jump from marina structures unless expressly permitted

Boat surveillance should not be confused with having a lifeguard stationed on the shore.

Accessibility

The official listing does not identify Cala Les Bassetes as an accessible beach or assisted-bathing location.

Its pebble and rocky shoreline may be difficult for wheelchairs, pushchairs and visitors with limited mobility. Access through the wider marina area does not guarantee step-free access to the water.

Visitors requiring assisted bathing should consider La Fossa Beach or Arenal-Bol and confirm the current service before travelling.

Parking

Calpe’s official beach information does not identify a dedicated public car park for Cala Les Bassetes.

Parking within or around the marina may be restricted, privately managed or reserved for customers and authorised users. Drivers should follow current signs and should not assume that every visible space is public.

See our Calpe parking guide for general advice.

Dogs

Cala Les Bassetes is not Calpe’s designated dog beach. Visitors wishing to take a dog onto the beach should use Cala Les Urques and check current municipal rules.
